OUC’s Haven Honored By Urban League ORLANDO (March 24, 2000) – The Metropolitan Orlando Urban League has honored Robert C. Haven, general manager of OUC—The Reliable One, for his devotion to community service and the ideals of the Urban League. In a ceremony held Thursday, Haven received the Urban League’s prestigious Willie J. Bruton Award. The award is named for the agency’s first president and one of Orlando’s most dedicated volunteers. "Mr. Haven has stepped forward to become a strong advocate for our agency in the community, and we sincerely appreciate that," said Rodney Henderson, vice president of the Metropolitan Orlando Urban League. Haven has served on the Urban League’s board of directors for six years. The agency’s mission is to assist African Americans and disadvantaged individuals in the achievement of social and economic equality. OUC, owned by the City of Orlando, is the nation’s 19th-largest municipal utility and one of Florida’s top performers in electric reliability. OUC provides electricity and water services to about 158,000 customers in Orlando, St. Cloud and parts of unincorporated Orange County.
