OUC Launches Energy Monitoring
Web-Based Tool Helps Identify Wasteful Usage

ORLANDO (June 19, 2000) – OUC—The Reliable One is making it easier for large businesses to monitor their electricity usage, measure the effectiveness of their energy-efficiency efforts and, above all, save money.

The utility’s new service, OUConsumption Online, enables commercial and industrial businesses to check a variety of their energy load data and identify wasteful usage patterns – right from their desktop computers.

Because energy costs can account for a significant portion of a company’s total operating expenses, managing energy load has become a top priority for many businesses. With the detailed information provided by OUConsumption Online, businesses can identify periods of peak demand and alter energy usage to reduce their monthly charges.

Here’s How It Works

With OUConsumption Online, energy load data is transferred from digital customer meters through modems and telephone lines. The raw data is then translated into easy-to-understand information and graphics for the customer – all over the Internet, in a secure, password-protected environment. Data is updated daily, so users always see timely, relevant information.

Users of OUConsumption Online can analyze metered interval load data for multiple locations, compare energy usage among similar facilities and even receive the latest weather and temperature data. On top of that, customers can download the information for further in-house analysis, instantly aggregating and graphing the specific data they desire.

The cost of OUConsumption Online is $35 per meter, per month. For a free demonstration of the service, click aquí.

OUC—The Reliable One is owned by the City of Orlando and is the nation’s 16th-largest municipal power company. OUC provides electricity and water services to about 158,000 customers in Orlando, St. Cloud and parts of unincorporated Orange County.
