OUC Wins Statewide Communicators Awards

Orlando (November 22, 2002) – OUC—The Reliable One has received two 2002 Crystal Awards from the Florida Government Communicators Association (FGCA) for outstanding public relations efforts.

OUC earned 1st place in the Technology Services category for its Corporate Services CD-ROM business card. The CD provides details and contact information for the utility's Corporate Services business unit in an interactive, compelling format that cuts through the clutter of traditional brochures.

OUC took 2nd place in the Public Information Campaign category for the utility's successful media launch of the Bolt electric bus demonstration project in downtown Orlando. Nearly every media outlet in Central Florida covered the event. More than 10,000 riders caught the Bolt during its run from December 17, 2001 until April 1, 2002.

The FGCA awards recognize OUC's ongoing efforts to communicate effectively with customers, business partners and the entire Central Florida community.

"It is always gratifying to receive validation for the quality of our work, especially from our peers at other government agencies," says Roseann Harrington, vice president of marketing, communications and community relations at OUC.

FGCA's Crystal Awards were presented November 6, 2003, at the association's annual conference in Daytona Beach. Membership in FGCA is open to government communicators in the state of Florida, including those working for city, county, school board, public utility, water district and state agencies.

OUC—The Reliable One lives up to its name by providing the best record of electric reliability in the state of Florida and delivering high-quality, great-tasting drinking water to its customers. Established in 1923 and owned by the citizens of Orlando, OUC serves more than 190,000 customers in Orlando, St. Cloud and parts of unincorporated Orange and Osceola counties.
