OUC Readies For Tropical Storm ORLANDO – Electric crews with OUC—The Reliable One are monitoring Tropical Storm Henri closely and preparing to respond quickly in the event of any damaging conditions in Central Florida. In addition to having its typical summer storm crews on duty throughout the weekend, OUC has scheduled extra line construction and tree maintenance personnel. “We intend to minimize any impact of this storm on our customers,” says Bob Haven, OUC’s general manager and CEO. “We have mobilized our crews to respond and restore service as quickly as possible.” At mid-day Friday, the tropical storm was approaching the west coast of Florida and moving east-northeast at 8 mph. On the forecast track, the center of the storm was expected to reach the coastline Friday evening and move across the northern portion of Central Florida overnight. Maximum sustained winds were at 45 mph, with higher gusts. Forecasters said rainfall of 6 to 12 inches could be expected in some areas, resulting in flooding because of saturated ground conditions. Isolated tornadoes were also a possibility. How to report an outage to OUC If your power goes out, wait at least 5 minutes to call OUC because power may be automatically restored. To report a power outage, call OUC at 407.823.9150. One phone call is all it takes. We urge you to call immediately if you see downed or sparking power lines, debris or tree limbs on lines or broken water mains. However, if your power goes off, first check to see if neighbors are also without power. If they have power, then check to see if you have blown a fuse or tripped a circuit breaker before you call us. OUC—The Reliable One lives up to its name by providing the best record of electric reliability in the state of Florida and delivering high-quality, great-tasting drinking water to its customers. Established in 1923 and owned by the citizens of Orlando, OUC is the second-largest municipal utility in Florida.
