OUC Celebrates Public Power Week

ORLANDO – OUC—The Reliable One is proud to celebrate Public Power Week, October 5-11, along with more than 2,000 other citizen-owned electric utilities across the United States.

"Our No. 1 priority is delivering reliable, friendly, competitively priced service," says Bob Haven, OUC's general manager & CEO. "Public power companies like OUC are driven by public service, not profit. We exist to serve you - our fellow citizens, friends and neighbors."

Since its founding in 1923, OUC has been a not-for-profit enterprise owned by the citizens of Orlando. Serving more than 190,000 customers in Orlando, St. Cloud and parts of unincorporated Orange and Osceola counties, OUC is the second-largest municipal utility in Florida and the 14th largest in the nation.

Aside from providing dependable, low-cost service:

  • We are accountable to you, not to stockholders, management and/or a board of directors in another city or country.

  • We follow democratic principles, with a governing board that has open meetings (2 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at OUC's Administration Building, 100 W. Anderson St., Orlando).

  • We help make Central Florida a great place to live and work.

Public Power Week is celebrated in conjunction with the American Public Power Association (APPA) in Washington, D.C. APPA is the service organization for community- and state-owned electric utilities.
