OUC Opens Hurricane Frances Media Desk ORLANDO – OUC will be closely monitoring storm impacts on the electric and water systems serving Central Florida as Hurricane Frances approaches and moves through our area in the coming days.To field media inquiries, OUC (Orlando Utilities Commission) has opened a special Hurricane Frances Media Desk. The desk will be staffed from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and will be the best way to get OUC updates or reach an OUC spokesperson. Contacting the media desk should also reduce the number lost or delayed messages and cellular phone service problems, such as those experienced after Hurricane Charley. Once Hurricane Frances has passed through Central Florida, OUC will begin assessing storm damage and will work to provide accurate and timely information about restoration of power to affected areas. Public numbers: Established in 1923 and owned by the citizens of Orlando, OUC—The Reliable One provides electric and water services to more than 190,000 customers in Orlando, St. Cloud and parts of unincorporated Orange and Osceola counties. OUC is the second-largest public power utility in Florida. |
