OUC CREWS TO ASSIST IN RESTORING
WATER SERVICE AFTER HURRICANE KATRINA

Water Team Heads to Mississippi Along With Winter Park, St. Cloud Crews

ORLANDO - OUC-The Reliable One has sent crews to assist with water restoration in some of the areas hardest hit by Hurricane Katrina. Eight OUC water specialists - along with crews from the cities of Winter Park and St. Cloud - let for Hattiesburg, Miss., Friday morning.

A caravan of about 20 trucks pulled away from OUC's Gardenia facility at about 9 a.m. to begin the long trip to Mississippi. Hauling tools, replacement parts, digging equipment and other supplies, the convoy expected to reach Hattiesburg by Saturday to begin work.

"OUC is proud to join the effort to restore safe and reliable drinking water to Gulf Coast residents," said Ken Ksionek, OUC General Manager and CEO. "We were fortunate that our employees kept OUC's water plants up and running after last year's hurricanes. Our goal is to help these communities get back on their feet as quickly as possible, and that starts with providing residents with clean water."

Hattiesburg will be the staging area for the water crews, which will travel about an hour south each day to work in heavily damaged areas. Shifts will last about 12-14 hours each day and will stay at a local high school at night.

The Central Florida crews will be working in support of the Mississippi Rural Water Association.

OUC also has offered assistance to electric utilities in the Gulf Coast region, and crews are on stand-by to help with power restoration.
