LOWERS ELECTRIC RATES
Fuel Stability, Diversification Cited for Rate Reduction
OUC—The Reliable One
already provides customers with some of the lowest electric rates in the
state, and today the governing board voted to further reduce rates beginning
Jan. 1, 2007.
Typical residential customers
will see a 2 percent reduction in their monthly bills and commercial
customers a 5 to 6 percent reduction. OUC customers will save nearly $23
million a year due to the rate decrease.

Thanks to a diverse fuel supply used to
generate electricity, OUC has maintained rate stability this past year and
is well positioned to lower costs for customers. OUC uses a variety of fuels
to generate electricity, including coal, natural gas, nuclear and oil.
This diversity helps protect OUC customers
from price increases in any one fuel source.

OUC’s tradition of supplying our customers with the best reliability and
competitive rates.”
In addition to
enjoying some of the lowest rates in the state, OUC customers also enjoy the
best reliability. Data released by Florida’s Public Service Commission also
shows that OUC ranks well ahead of Florida’s investor-owned utilities in key
performance areas that measure overall electric reliability.
To help keep energy
bills low this winter season, OUC encourages customers to practice energy
conservation at the home and office. Some helpful tips as winter approaches
include:

In the winter, set your
thermostat at 68 degrees (air conditioning and heating account for more
than 50 percent of the electric bill).

Change your
A/C filter monthly.

Keep your central A/C unit on auto. If you will be away from home for more
than four hours, turn off the unit completely.
- Set
pool pumps not to operate during late afternoon and evening hours.
