READY FOR HEART OF HURRICANE SEASON

Storms Keep Crews, Personnel at Top of Game
ORLANDO – The busiest part of hurricane season begins Aug. 1,
and OUC—The Reliable One is ready.
OUC, in partnership with the Cities of Orlando and St. Cloud and Orange County,
recently hosted 11 hurricane preparedness meetings throughout our service area.
Central Florida residents learned about power distribution, OUC’s storm response
plans, hurricane safety and emergency services. Residents also took home copies
of OUC’s 20006 Hurricane Guide.

Centro tormentas is a comprehensive resource that includes the OUC Hurricane
Guide and storm preparedness audio tips that are downloadable to any MP3 player.
The site features information about generator safety, tree trimming, power
generation and restoration priorities and links to the National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) site.
As the heart of hurricane season approaches, OUC is maintaining its rigorous
tree trimming schedule, making sure that trees do not interfere with our power
lines. The daily summer storms help to ensure that our line crews and operations
personnel are at the top of their game when it comes to a safe, speedy response.
OUC continues to test its emergency response plans, making sure that we can
respond quickly, efficiently and safely. As part of this preparation, OUC
already has agreements in place to bring in outside crews if Central Florida
were to sustain a direct hit or to send OUC electric and water crews to other
areas affected by hurricanes.
