Employment Tests

Employment tests play a critical role in helping the Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC) identify qualified candidates for various positions. Currently, OUC utilizes tests developed by the Edison Electric Institute (EEI), a prominent trade association that serves over 200 member companies and acts as a key representative of the electric energy industry.

To assist candidates in preparing for these assessments, the EEI offers resources, including practice tests, skill-building modules, and detailed brochures. You can explore these materials through the following link: EEI Test Resources. When the login screen appears, use “reliable1” as the username and “ouc” as the password.

Brochures & Practice Tests

EEI’s test brochures offer valuable insights into various job positions, along with examples of test questions. While the practice tests help familiarize candidates with the format of the exams, they are not designed to develop the specific skills needed to excel. The following EEI tests are used in the selection process for positions at OUC:

  • CAST: Construction and Skilled Trades
  • POSS: Plant Operator Selection System
  • SO/PD: System Operator/Power Dispatching Positions Selection System (coming soon)

SkillBuilder Modules

EEI’s SkillBuilder modules provide an interactive and realistic approach to learning the key skills and knowledge required for success in electric utility jobs. These modules cover:

  • Fractions
  • Mechanical Principles

These modules offer an engaging way to develop critical competencies that are relevant to the job positions at OUC.

Benefit Details

OUC recognizes that a competitive and comprehensive benefits package is necessary to attract and retain talent. Full-time employees (those working more than 30 hours per week) and part-time employees (those regularly working at least 20 hours per week) are eligible for OUC’s benefits package.
