Since 1995, proceeds from the annual OUC Charity Golf Tournament have raised over $1 million in much-needed funds for more than 80 Central Florida nonprofit organizations in Orange and Osceola County working to better our community.

Educational Programs

We believe that teaching young people to respect the value of energy and water will help them grow into environmentally conscious adults focused on conservation.

Water Color Project

Since 2006, OUC has sponsored this educational outreach effort for Orange County students that encourages water conservation through art.

Watts Savings Project

Launched in Fall 2024, this art-focused initiative teaches students in Osceola County public schools about the importance of saving energy.

Project A.W.E.S.O.M.E

Project A.W.E.S.O.M.E (Alternative Water and Energy Supply; Observation, Methods and Education) is a STEM-based educational program dedicated to encouraging conversations about sustainability and conservation of water and energy in our communities.

OUC partners with the Orlando Science Center to deliver this interactive curriculum, which consists of two 90-minute classroom workshops and meets Common Core Standards, to Orange and Osceola County public school classrooms within OUC’s service territory.

Tiny Green Home

In partnership with the Orlando Science Center, OUC has installed a 200-square-foot educational resource showcasing the benefits of energy and water conservation, renewable energy, vehicle electrification, composting, growing food and more.

Power Play and Water Works Exhibit

Hands-on, interactive exhibits at the Orlando Science Center teach young people the importance of water and energy conservation.

Youth Energy Academy

Sponsored by the Florida Chapter of the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE), YEA is a statewide program that seeks to inspire African American youths to study STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) courses. OUC has supported the local YEA’s two-day hands-on program for more than 10 years.

Pre-Apprenticeship Program

This free, four-month program introduces participants to various fields in construction with the opportunity to earn pre-certifications. The curriculum includes:

  • Safety basics 
  • Construction math
  • Tool identification
  • Workplace ethics 
  • Communication and employability skills
  • Carpentry, electric and plumbing basics

Any person who is legally authorized to work in the U.S. and wants a career in trade fields like construction, carpentry, plumbing, electrical and building maintenance can apply.

OUC is dedicated to enriching our community’s green spaces by distributing trees through various local partnerships.

For more than 25 years, OUC has proudly held the Arbor Day Foundation Tree Line USA© designation, reflecting our long-standing commitment to effective vegetation management.

As Florida’s longest-serving recipient of this honor, OUC’s tree-planting initiative not only enhances local beauty but also promotes environmental sustainability and improves air quality for all residents.

Earth Month

OUC proudly supports and participates in Central Florida Earth Day, St. Cloud Earth Day, Earth Day Work Day, Orange County Earth Fest and other Earth Month activities.

This nonprofit community alliance is dedicated to building a better food future and ending food insecurity in order to create resilient, thriving communities.

The campus will feature community gardens, hands-on classes, a farmers’ market and more, as well EV charging stations and a floating solar array provided by OUC.

Empowerment Zone

The Empowerment Zone Taskforce leverages OUC’s employees, resources and partnerships to enhance educational opportunities, health and wellness programs, job training and sustainable housing in the economically disadvantaged 32805 ZIP code.

Initiatives include the Pre-Apprenticeship Program, Free Little Libraries, and the Healthy Eating, Active Lifestyle (HEAL) Program, among many others.
