How It Works
- No Upfront Costs: Qualifying customers pay nothing at the time of installation, with their share of the cost is spread over future bills with interest‑free payments.
- Real, Measurable Savings: Participants save an average of 100 kWh of electricity and 200 gallons of water each month — that’s nearly $200 per year in savings.
*Your share of the total cost depends on your household income, your status as a homeowner or renter, and the improvements you select. Eligibility for installments is based on payment history. If installments are not available, the full portion will be added as a lump sum on the upcoming OUC bill.
It Pays to Have a Greener Home

Play Offense & Beat the Heat
Your A/C is working overtime in the summer. But you can minimize the impact of hot weather with these energy- and water-saving tips.
Try setting your thermostat to 78°F or higher. For each degree below 78, your cooling costs can increase by 6–8%. If 78°F feels too warm, take the “one-degree challenge” and gradually raise your usual setting one degree at a time.
Why spend money on watering your lawn during summer when Mother Nature will do it for free? With Orlando recording at least six inches of rain during a typical summer month, you may be able to cut back on irrigation and your lawn will be none the wiser.
Have a dishwasher or washing machine? Only run full loads and avoid using hot water. Water heating can account for 14% to 25% of the energy consumed in your home.
Use blinds, heat-blocking window film or blackout curtains to repel sunlight and heat, especially on windows facing east or west.
Replace dirty or clogged A/C filters. When filters get dirty, airflow drops and allergens can slip through, and your system has to work harder than it should. Swap in fresh filters and continue replacing them on the schedule recommended by the manufacturer.
Timing is everything. Save water by watering lawns early in the morning (before 10 a.m.) or in the evening to minimize evaporation.
