Hurricane Milton Media Advisory 9

11 de octubre de 2024

Español

ORLANDO, Fla. – As of 7 p.m., Friday (10/11), OUC has restored power to 78 % of customers who lost power due to Hurricane Milton. Currently, there are 15,899 customers in Orlando and 1,079 in St. Cloud who remain without power.

By midnight tonight, 95% of all OUC customers will have power. We anticipate the majority of customers currently without power will be restored by 11:59 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 12, with our entire territory restored by 11:59 pm., Sunday, Oct. 13.

Contacting OUC To Report Outages

We are aware of discrepancies appearing in OUC’s Outage Map and Outage Alert System and we are working to resolve the issue. If the map incorrectly shows you have power or you receive an alert stating you are restored when you are not, please report your outage to OUC. You can report your outage by texting OUT to 69682, calling 407-423-9018, or via email using customerservice@ouc.com.

Weatherhead/Meter Base Repairs

To expedite restoration of service, customers should check their property to ensure all electric devices (such as the weatherhead and meter base) have not been damaged by the storm. Should there be damage, they must have repairs performed by a licensed electrician and inspected by the City or County. For help in finding a licensed contractor within OUC’s Preferred Contractor Network, visit ouc.com/pcn. Watch this video to learn about weatherheads.

Nonfunctioning Traffic Lights

We have heard reports of nonfunctioning traffic lights and ask all motorists to use caution and treat these intersections as four-way stops.

Safety Tips

OUC also advises customers to continue to practice safety protocols after the storm:

  • If high water threatens your home turn off your power at the circuit breaker panel or fuse box.

  • Exercise safety outside and be wary of downed lines. Power lines still could be energized and hidden in debris.

  • Avoid pooled water and flooded streets. Downed wires and electrical equipment, such as a pad mounted transformer, could be hidden and still energized.

We thank our customers in advance for their patience and urge them to stay safe.

OUC.com/stormcenter will regularly be updated with latest information and includes safety tips. We will continue to send media advisories twice daily – one in the morning and one in the evening.
